Nasarawa University Announces 160 AS Cut-off Mark For 2020/2021 Academic Session Admission

This is coming at a time the State Assembly assures of support to make the university  world class institution.

The management of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has announced 160 as cut-off point for admission of students  into the 2020/2021 academic session.

Prof. Suleiman Bala Mohammed, the Vice Chancellor of the University announced this on Tuesday in Keffi when the State House of Assembly committee on Education visited the institution on an oversight function.

Bala Mohammed said that the decision of the management to reduced the  cut-off to 160 was to accommodate more indigene students who are seeking for admission.

The vice chancellor said that the university has achieved a lot in the areas of infrastructural and man power  development among others.

" I want to appreciate the efforts of the committee for being up and doing in ensuring the development of this institution and the state education sector.

" With your support, the support from the state government and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND, some outstanding projects have been completed.

" These include Information Communication Technology (ICT) block, new faculty of Environmental sciences, the university digital library, the university printing press  among others, " he said.

He has also said that the university is working towards the establishment of College of Medicine and Faculty of Engineering considering their importance to human and societal development.

Bala Mohammed also disclosed that the university is planning to recruit capable hands in the areas of ICT, medicine and Engineering among others.

The Vice Chancellor, however,  identified funding as the major challenges affecting the university.

Responding, Hon Daniel Oga Ogazi, the Chairman, House Committee on Education said that the committee was out to assess the 2020  budget performance of the institution.

" We are also here to see or look at the areas you have done well and to know the areas of your challenges with the view of addressing them.

"You are doing well , we are satisfied with your activities  for improved standard of education, so keep it up, " he said.

The committee's chairman assured the management of the university of adequate support to succeed to make the university a world class institution.

" We will talk to the government to give the institution the much needed support and assistance its deserves.

"Because it is a major  industry that we have in Nasarawa State,  we will give the institution our maximum  support to make it a world class institution, "  he said.

In his vote of thanks, Alhaji Bala Ahmed, the Registrar of the institution also said that the management is determined to make the institution one of the best universities in the country.

The Registrar commended the committee for given adequate attention to the institution and called for its sustenance. 

It would be reported that the committee inspected some completed projects which include ICT complex, faculty of Environmental Sciences,  the University's digital library, renovated halls in the main campus and Pyanku campus and Faculty of Engineering in Gudi, Akwanga Local Government Area among others.
