Ahmadu Bello University Faculty of Environmental Design Will Gradually Move To Site II

The Faculty of Environmental Design, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria will gradually move to Site II as part of measures to decongest the Main Campus of the institution, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabir Bala, has disclosed. 

Speaking during his visit to the Department of Industrial Design on Tuesday, 11th August, 2020, the Vice-Chancellor said the Main Campus was overstretched and no new structure would be erected on green areas.

Prof. Bala, who was taken round various sections of the department by the Dean, Faculty of Environmental Design, Prof. U.A.A. Sullayman and other heads of unit, said new buildings at the Site II for departments of Urban & Regional Planning, Geomatics and Building had been completed. The Faculty, according to the Vice-Chancellor, would be accorded top priority by bringing in interventions to improve its lots. 

The Vice-Chancellor asked the Dean and other heads of department to produce designs for other structures that would be erected at the new site for presentation as the University was expecting a number of interventions for the institution. 

Some of the sections inspected by the Vice-Chancellor included ceramics, textile design and fashion, drawing and painting, weaving studio, sculpture workshop, and graphic design. 

Other faculty staff, who received the Vice-Chancellor included Head, Department of Industrial Design, Prof. Samaila Usman Dakyes and Head, Department of Fine Arts, Prof. Kan Okoki. They also included Prof. Gwari W. Bako and Prof. Salihu Maiwada all of Textile Design and Fashion Section as well as Dr. Shehu Ismail Chafe of Drawing and Painting Section and Mr. Sunday Ogunwale of Graphics Design. 

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied to the Faculty by the Director, Directorate of Academic Planning and Monitoring, Prof. Yahaya Makarfi Ibrahim; Director, Directorate of University Advancement; Prof. Ahmed Doko Ibrahim and Ag. Director, Public Affairs Directorate, Malam Auwalu Umar.
