Osun State University Promotes 11 Associate Professors, 7 Senior Lecturers, And Several Non - Teaching Staff

As part of its commitment to the staff and student's welfare, the Governing Council of Osun State University has recently promoted 11 Associate Professors of the University to professors; 7 senior lecturers to associate professors; and several non-teaching members of staff of the University to higher cadres during the COVID-19 lockdown.

The chairman of the Governing Council and pro-chancellor of the University, Mallam Yusuf Ali, SAN while speaking on the promotion of staff said, “Adhering to global standard in all affairs of the University is the UNIOSUN governing council’s vision and it is our watchword till date. When other institutions are complaining, we are deliberating on way forward and we are proffering solutions as the University started online teaching activities even before the advent of COVID-19; conducted online matriculation and we are still moving forward.”

“ We are also committed to the welfare of our staff and this is why UNIOSUN workers have continued to receive their salaries in full on the 25th of every month, have access to housing and car loan facilities with a single digit interest and most importantly regular and consistent promotion of staff among others,” Mallam Ali Added.

The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Labode Popoola expressed his delight at the production of 11 professors in the institution at once. He attributed this to their commitment to excellence and contributions to national and global development which is demonstrated by their research outputs as confirmed by their assessors. According to the Vice-Chancellor, the assessment process is in line with global best practices and remains objective and thorough.

Professor Popoola thereby advised the new professors to remain committed to the system, and humanity as there would be more administrative, research, and leadership responsibilities on them in their new roles.

The associate professors that were promoted to full professors are: Professor Monsuru Adebayo ADELEKE, Professor Afeez Adefemi BELLO, Professor Sunday Babatunde AKINDE, Professor Temitope Abiodun BALOGUN, Professor Oladele Ayodeji ILESANMI, Professor Emmanuel Olaniyi IBILOYE, Professor Caleb Olufisoye AKANBI, Professor Rotimi Omoyele FASAN, Professor Mabel Omowunmi IPINMOROTI, Professor Onyegbula Chike NWOKE, Professor Patience Olusola FAKOLADE

The Senior Lecturers that were promoted to Associate Professors are: Dr. Sunday Bankole ADEYEMI, Dr. Gbadebo Ismaila OLATONA, Dr. Solomon OJO, Dr. Waidi Folorunso SULE, Dr. Kehinde Adekunle BASHIRU, Dr. Akinolu Gabriel OMISORE, and Dr. Adebayo OLAGUNJU.

Several other teaching and non-teaching members of staff were also promoted
