Ahmadu Bello University Governing Council condoled with Zazzau Emirate over the demise of Emir Shehu Idris.
Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council, Malam Adamu Fika, GCON (Wazirin Fika), who led the 15-member Council to the Emir’s Palace in Zaria, described Shehu Idris’ death as a great loss to the Emirate and the nation as a whole.
Malam Fika, however, urged the people of the Emirate that they should take solace in the fact that the Emir had impacted positively on the lives of his people in particular and Nigeria in general.
The Chairman recalled that he first came to know the Emir when he was the District Head of Zaria Birni da Kewaye when he was sent to the Emir of Fika by the then Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Muhammadu Aminu.
Malam Adamu Fika said the great contributions of the late Emir towards the development of Zazzau, Kaduna State and Nigeria as a whole would remain indelible in history.
Director, Institute of Administration, Prof. Ibrahim Ahmed Aliyu, prayed to God to give people of the Emirate and Kaduna State the fortitude to bear the loss.
The Chairman and other Council members were received by Sarkin Fadan Zazzau, Alhaji Abbas Ahmadu Fatika, and Mabudin Zazau, Alhaji Abdulqadir Sa’i Muhammad.
The Council members on the Chairman’s entourage included the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabir Bala; Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. D.A. Ameh; Dr. Sani Ibrahim; Mrs. Funke Awopegba; Mrs. Olusola Dada; Prof. Bashir Yusuf Ibrahim; Prof. Abubakar Aliyu Liman; Prof. A.A. Tijjani; Prof. Kawu M. Umaru and Prof. Aliyu Rafindadi Sanusi.
Others on the entourage were the University Librarian, Prof. Ibrahim Umar; the University Registrar, Malam Abdullahi Ahmed Kundila; and the University Bursar, Malam Yahaya Alhaji Hassan.
